Morganfest was a three-day combination retirement party, symposium, and birthday party for Jason held at Princeton University in October, 2004. Colleagues, friends, and family came from around the nation and world. As part of the birthday party portion of the event, Jason was given a handmade toolbox. Colleagues then recreated a fictional scene from the movie A Beautiful Mind, where Princeton professors gave the John Nash character their pens as a sign of respect. To make a fictional ritual real, Jason’s colleagues gave him tools that would help him with his new house. Part of the humor came from the fact that Jason didn’t really have a tool set, because University maintenance had always cared for the faculty housing he’d lived in all his adult life.
